HIRTH 2703's have the highest operational time of any Hirth engine. The 2703 produces more horsepower than any other engine in its power class and is the forerunner in power plants for light ultralight trainers, single seat gyrocopters, and experimentals today. 2703 incorporates Al-Nikasil coated cylinders for superior performance and reliability. Al-Nikasil in simple terms is a nickel based material, applied in a paste form, when super heated it becomes part of the cylinder itself. Al-Nikasil provides for a super low coefficient of friction, reducing engine heat and wear. The pistons and cylinders expand at the same rate thus providing for a seizure resistant engine. 2703 crankshaft is 4130 chromemolly steel. Heads, cylinders, rings, block casting, connecting rods and associated components. NOTE: For most applications the 2703 has been replaced with the 55Hp 3202 and is no longer kept in stock at RPE. If the higher peak power RPM is required for special applications 2703's are still available and can be special ordered.
Factory recommended TBO is rated at 1000 Hrs. @ 75% power.
